House

Built entirely of stone, in 1861, the original house is a classic Comminges 'Maison de Mâitre' with fine beams and plaster work. It has been sympathetically developed for luxury modern living.

And yes, high-speed satellite broadband is available.

The key word for this house is comfort. Maison La Serre is a warm, light and airy home, where space abounds. The vast south-facing sun room and pool terrace enjoy panoramic views of wooded hills, valleys and the Pyrenees.

The house comprises three floors, and an underground wine cellar.
The entire building has gas-fired central heating, and is double glazed throughout. Due to the aspect of the house and clement weather conditions, the central heating normally operates only from mid-November to the beginning of March.

Ground Floor and Wine Cellar
Double front doors open into the main entrance hall, from which the rest of the house is accessed. Facing the main entrance is a large staircase leading to the upper floors. The ground floor comprises:

A farmhouse kitchen, fully fitted with custom made antique pine kitchen furniture, central island, 4-oven AGA, gas hob, double Miele ovens, Miele dishwasher, and Maytag ‘side-by-side’ American fridge-freezer.

A large well fitted utility room, with double sink, and plumbing for a washing machine.

A dining room, which can seat up to twelve people. It has a fireplace surrounded by decorative plasterwork; the ceiling and cornices are similarly decorated.

A large and well appointed library.

A glass fronted, breakfast and sun room, which is fitted with large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and has automatic air conditioning. This vast room, leads onto the pool terrace, as does the adjoining gym room, which boasts a commercial size Jacuzzi.

A cloakroom leading to a separate powder room with WC

The whole of the ground floor of the property is tiled with handmade terracotta squares and has underfloor heating.

The wine cellar is accessed by a discreet stone staircase. This œnologue’s dream is fully lined, fitted with built-in terracotta wine racking for in excess of 2,000 bottles, and is controlled for temperature & relative humidity.
